The Annunaki were a race of sentient beings that inhabited the 12th planet in the Sol system, Nibiru.
Origin
edit edit sourceDespite their planet forming later than others, the Annunaki were one of the first sentient life forms in the Sol system.
Early History of the Annunaki
edit edit sourceThe Annunaki’s history is largely unknown, due to the volatile nature of their homeworld for most of the Omniverse’s history, however what is known is rich and detailed enough to be considered archivable by the Employers. The Annunaki formed as a sentient race long before the beginning of Aeternia, as their ancient records make mention of the Dragon Kings still ruling over Earth. The Annunaki were similar to the Venusians in the sense that they were, quite frankly, materialistic beyond measure. The Annunaki for eons believed in the strength of a free market system, almost religiously to the point where anyone who fell behind in such a system was simply a "Voh'lohan" a term which means "One who is born to fail." (To be noted is that this name is believed to originally belonged to an incredibly ancient and long-extinct race of insect people that had lived alongside the then-primitive Annunaki on Nibiru as a hostile faction, however any possible evidence of their existence beyond mere rumors was never obtained during the existence of the Omniverse, as Nibiru was notoriously hard to land on and live to tell the tale. Some variations of the rumor even go so far as to say that the modern interpretation of the Annunaki language is entirely wrong and that the term Voh'lohan itself simply means "enemy", a meaning picked up from the longstanding rivalry between the Annunaki and their hypothetical ancient enemy.) A sort of caste system was formed around the perceived inherent inferiority of the Voh'lohan, and they were largely used as slave labor, were thrown into gladiatorial pits for the entertainment of the Non-Voh'lohan, or were merely executed if their perceived usefulness had entirely dissipated in the minds of their oppressors. This system would grow the Annunaki Empire to great lengths, eventually colonizing many objects within the far reaches of the Sol System, particularly the Kuiper Belt and some innermost regions of the Oort Cloud. As the Annunaki continued to expand, a significant problem was noticed. Their expanding industrial output was weaking their home planet, Nibiru's, atmosphere and within a few short years it would be gone entirely, rendering the planet largely uninhabitable. The Annunaki leadership quickly set about finding a way to curb this atmospheric calamity, and eventually their scientists discovered that pure gold dust could repair the atmosphere long enough for several hundred thousand years. Enough time to find a more permanent solution. The only issue with this plan was that gold was an incredibly rare resource in the outer solar system, so rare in fact that platinum was used as the primary currency for the Annunaki Empire. There was, however, one planet in particular which held vast measures of gold. That planet was Earth. The Dragon Kings, in their insatiable lust for the alloy, had hoarded nearly all the gold in the solar system on their planet. Estimates done by ancient Annunaki mathematicians calculated that the amount of gold on Earth would be enough to sustain Nibiru's atmosphere for eons. Following this calculation, the Annunaki High Council approved a swift strike on the planet to seize their gold reserves for themselves.

The Annunaki-Dragon War
edit edit sourceOn an unknown date sometime following Ghydrah, True Firstborn of Akatosh's betrayal of the other two dragon kings, the Annunaki launched a surprise invasion of Earth, catching the entire planet off guard. The initial phases of the invasion went well, large sums of gold were hauled off-world to be utilized in the atmospheric dispersers to help repair Nibiru's atmosphere. The human population were far too technologically behind to pose even the slightest threat to the Annunaki troops.
The Annunaki's invasion had gone well, panic had spread throughout the ranks of even the dragons themselves, and there was no clear answer as to what to do to repel the attackers. By the time a solution was devised, the Annunaki had already fled the planet with over 62.7% of the planet's gold. By all accounts, they had won. However, the Annunaki had greatly overestimated the dragon's lust for gold. As soon as word of the Annunaki's departure from the planet reached the ears of the Grand Draconic Emperor and True Firstborn of Akatosh, Ghydrah the Golden, he flew off all on his lonesome to reclaim what was rightfully his. Ghydrah flew through space for hours, his sights directly aimed for the capital city of Nibiru, Jala'korah. Ghydrah unleashed the power of the Thu'um, instantly creating a powerful storm around himself that gave him the conduit necessary to do what he planned next.
The Genocide of Jala'korah
edit edit sourceWith the storm above Jala'korah intensifying by the minute, Ghydrah raised his wings to the sky, his body in this position taller than the highest of skyscrapers, and channeled pure lightning into his wings, enhancing its power with his own and then redirected it in every direction for over 27 minutes straight. By the time this assault had ended, over 85% of Jala'korah's population lay dead. The total death count is not known for sure but it is believed to be in the tens of millions. His rampage ended, Ghydrah called out to the remaining Annunaki. "To you mortal weaklings that retain the ability to breathe, be grateful. You do so under my permission. Bring me the gold you took with such hubris from my planet, and I will not subject what little of you there remains to the unrelenting power of the Firstborn of Akatosh!"

Moving as swiftly as they could, the Annunaki survivors gathered up all the gold that remained on the planet, and Ghydrah simply took it from them at left, the metaphorical thorn in his side now throughly plucked.
Aftermath of the Annunaki-Dragon War
edit edit sourceWith their capital now decimated and their primary hope of escape having been ripped from their palms, the Annunaki Empire began a sharp decline, beginning with Empire-wide revolts from the Voh'lohan seeking to overthrow their oppressors and massive economic and military losses across the board. During this period the last remaining Annunaki still aligned with the Empire designed and built the cryostasis pods, navigational AI, and continent-sized thrusters that would come to define Nibiru for most of it's history. This was both a last ditch attempt at the survival of their species, and a method of genociding the revolting Voh'lohan, as every planet's planetwide life support systems were directly controlled on Nibiru. This meant that, once far enough, the signal would be lost and the only remaining Annunaki in the Omniverse would be those who had remained loyal to the Empire. Eventually this did come to pass, and all of the Voh'lohan Annunaki died out over the course of a few short weeks, and the legend of Nibiru, the Winged Star of Terror, was born. Destined to search the stars for eons, and incidentally annihilate untold numbers of lifeforms across the Omniverse.
The End of the Annunaki
edit edit sourceAs is known by the vast majority of Omniversal historians, Nibiru did eventually find a planet suitable for the rebirth of the Annunaki sometime after the fall of the Waifurian Empire. The survivors that had not been accidentally awoken due to malfunctions or were woken up to defend Nibiru began a small colony on the planet's surface, and were seemingly well on their way to a proper civilization before the Enclave arrived and obliterated the last of Sol's Lost Race. Nibiru would go on to be utilized as a massive transport following the extinction of the Annunaki, and later on would be used as a planet-destroying weapon in the 3rd Great META War.
