Description

The Nowhere is a inter-dimensional space located within the Omniverse and, following the Final Moment, the Multiverse which serves as housing for souls after they die. The Nowhere is anomalous, as it is technically everywhere and, well, nowhere. This is because the Nowhere does not inhabit a dimensional plane but rather the spaces between them; rendering it as “nowhere” as it does not inhabit a dimensional plane. The Nowhere is believed to have been created by the Employers, specifically the Auditor.

Afterlife Format Theorem

It is believed that The Nowhere exists as a sort of template for an afterlife for the followers of God-like beings to inhabit as a reward for their faith. Evidence for this comes from the fact several afterlifes did in fact find their homes within the Nowhere, but did not actually count as part of it due to the vast differences between these afterlifes and the Nowhere.

Features and Characteristics of the Nowhere

The Nowhere largely consists of massive landscapes filled with a basalt-like rock colored either black, dark gray, or brown. These landscapes are largely featureless but do contain anomalous properties such as mountain-like structures reaching from the “ceiling” of the entire dimension and a lack of any natural light. The Nowhere contains a few seemingly man-made structures, but it is unknown how these formed or if they even originate from the Nowhere itself.

Entities/Inhabitants of the Nowhere

Given the absolute disregard for mass death in the Omniverse, the Nowhere was almost constantly filled with the souls of those who’s physical forms were slain. The only other entity to inhabit the Nowhere is the Grand Steward. The Grand Steward is an entity responsible for the organization, memory erasure, and reincarnation of souls throughout the Omniverse. It is unknown how the Grand Steward came to be, although the Author is known to work closely with it so it is likely he is responsible for its creation. It is also the only known light source in the entirety of the Nowhere.

Grand Soul Churning Extraordinairium

The process of reincarnation is, by the Grand Steward’s own admittance, a rather torturous scenario. When the soul of an entity first arrives in the Nowhere, they face an impossibly long fall until they fall into the “ground” of the Nowhere, which often results in horrific mutilations of their hell-selves. Once the soul is able to regain movement, they must begin an odyssey to the location of the Grand Steward where they face the rebirth of their soul. Where the soul lands is based on their actions as a living being, the worse you were, the further from the Grand Steward you would be placed. Rebirth too, is painful, as the soul must have their memories extracted from what remains of their consciousness. This process exists as not to shatter the sanity of the individual, and also provides the Grand Steward with its source of power. Once its memories are gone, the soul is temporarily integrated into the Grand Steward itself and then jettisoned out into a random world in a random plane of existence.

Retainers

The Retainers are the guardians of the Nowhere and are responsible for keeping the lost souls within it from escaping and to keep the living from entering the Nowhere.
