The Author is one of the three Employers. The Author carefully crafted the Rick Hernia Omniverse, developing and stars, planets, and moons of the cosmos with his graceful hand.
The Author designed all of the creatures and beings which inhabited the Omniverse, but was unable... or, unwilling... to influence them after inception. The Author's laissez-faire approach towards his creations ultimately led to the premature death of the Omniverse, in the Biden Incident.

Author's Secret
The other Employers were unaware of the Author's tremendous powers, believing him to being only capable of creating planets and moons. They nicknamed him "Grug", a name which the Auditor frequently screamed at the Author during his J.F. Sweets Cherry-Cola benders (of which there were many).
Origins of Legume
The Author's first creation in the Omniverse was the Legume. The Author used the Legume as a vessel through which he could share his powers with the beings of the Omniverse. While not exactly sentient, the Legume was an incredibly powerful being and its percieved 'will' had an immense impact on the happenings of the Omniverse.
