"Gordon Freeman? Mr. Vance... You wouldn't need all that to imprison Gordon Freeman..." - The G-Man to JD Vance, upon the latter's discovery of a prison pod deep in the abandoned Combine Citadel of Cleveland, Ohio.

JD Vance, otherwise known as "John Donald Vance", was an Ohio Politician & Harbringer of Death who was the eldest son of Elijah 'Eli' Vance, and the brother of Alyx Vance. He was the President of the Ohio Magarrish Delegation, a faction of Ohioans who, post-Great META War, bent and kissed the ring of the Great MAGA King. On January 3, 1 AB, JD led an expedition of the abandoned Combine Citadel in Cleveland, Ohio, searching for Gordon Freeman, who had, to the public, appeared to go missing in 0 AB. However, when Vance reached the interior of the tower, he discovered none other then the G-Man, playing a Pac-Man Arcade machine and snacking on British cheese puffs, who had seemingly been waiting for Vance to show up searching for Gordon. The G-Man told Vance he knew where Gordon was, but wouldn't tell, due to a 'Blue Contract'. Vance was offered the opportunity to exchange his life for Freeman's, bringing Freeman back to Ohio and putting Vance where Freeman had gone. However, Vance proved himself unable or unwilling to accept this deal, and simply turned and walked out of the building. he told everyone Freeman was dead.

He was appointed Harbringer of Death following his brutal slaughter of the Plape.

In the rise of Neo-Aeternia, Vance was appointed Vice Emperor by The Great MAGA King, being the second publicly known being in Omniversal History to recieve an eternal soul-tether to the Magarrish One (after Mike).
