Sandreaper

Description

Sandreapers, Anomalocimex Extidesertumvenator, were a species of carnivorous giant insects ranging from 8-11 feet in length. They possessed 4 compound eyes, 8 legs, and a pair of wings. Sandreapers inhabited just about every desert biome or planet in Omniverse, and presented a very serious problem for most civilizations throughout much of the Omniverse's history. While the exact origin of these animals is unknown, it is known that they are not from either the Andromeda or Milky Way Galaxies, but instead the Triangulum Galaxy. Despite this, records recovered from Bwemer ruins describe a species matching the description of the Sandreapers indicating they inhabited at least the Andromedan Galaxy for a significant amount of time.

Life Cycle/Behavior

Sandreapers began life as a grub implanted in living hosts by their parent, who's venom tended to paralyze victims for life. (To note is that Sandreapers did not possess gender and are capable of generating, but not incubating, offspring on their own.) The grub would feed off of the victim's cardiovascular system for weeks until they reached a certain stage of growth where the grub will begin to secrete a chemical compound that would effectively digest a victim from the inside out, turning their internal organs into a soupy mixture that the grub would then ingest, most commonly leaving the victim dead. The grub would then exit the victim's body by burrowing out of it, and into the nearest patch of sand it could find. Here, the grub would form a hard cocoon around itself and develop into a fully-grown Sandreaper in a matter of days. Sandreapers were known to live for much longer than most Omniversal fauna, with the oldest specimens being a couple hundred years old. Sandreapers also exhibited an unnatural affinity for violence as they were commonly observed hunting animals and sentients for sport, frequently paralyzing, mauling, or killing victims for no apparent reason.

Extinction

Sandreapers faced complete extinction in 392,863 AB when the Grand Hog Collective, their natural rivals, launched their invasion of the Milky Way and Andromeda. The Hogs' arrival was the only thing the Sandreapers ever seemed to fear, and when the porcine hordes swept across the 3rd Dimension their species met its end.
